EXHIBITOR & VENDOR

Boris Aravindabalan, aka “Sketchman Boris,” is the founder of bkk UNZINE, envisioned as a platform to promote both fledgling and established artists alike. bkk UNZINE (pronounced “un-ZEEN,” like “unseen”) began life as an art magazine featuring the work of artists from the Bangkok art scene and beyond, and organizes events and activities to promote art appreciation and patronage.. Growing up in India, Boris discovered his love for drawing and, combined with hours and hours of cartoons and movies, he realized that not only did he just love reading and watching stories, but he also wanted to have the same impact on others as the creators whose work he enjoyed had on him.

COMIC STRIPS & FREE-DOM

The comic strips are spurts of my inner voice, personified as my alter ego, Bobo (the purple guy), who tells me these stories.

FREE-DOM is a one-shot comic I drew. It’s still unpublished but will soon be available on my website, sketchmanboris.com. The story is told from the perspective of an entity that possesses women’s bodies across different countries just moments before they are killed by men. It’s an attempt to create a new kind of creature—one that represents fear itself. You’ll have to read the comic to understand what kind of fear it embodies; there’s a hint in the title.

Don’t miss our convention Saturday & Sunday 25-26 October!
