EXHIBITOR

Happyduis is an ordinary daydreamer kid on a mission to be a super cool illustrator. He loves to tell stories and shout them out through his individual style of art. His works are usually released from silly thoughts and journeys in everyday life. Happyduis really likes to work with floating imagination that randomly comes though his mind; that’s the way he creates stuff. His favourite things are ballpoint pens, hatching lines and blue ink.

about the artwork…

WANDERWALL

The concept “If all problems could flush away like a toilet,” would be very great. In this project I represent my bathroom as a giant sketchbook, a place where I can release almost everything in my head without caring too much. Random thoughts, overwhelming and overflowing feelings all coming out through the tip of a pen. For me, taking those thoughts down to my sketchbook made me feel like taking a shit… and once you flush, it’s gone. Just like how the chaos in your mind feels a little lighter after you let it out on paper. The toilet is the holy damn comfort zone: a place where you you can just sit with yourself. You stare into the mirror and really see your face, your expression, your actual mood. No faking. No pretending. Some days, you perform on the concert stage. Some days, the floor’s messed with tears. Some days, it's a special space for confessions to your girl. And at the same time, it’s where some of my biggest art ideas are born. Also where you place your shit. That’s why in this exhibition, everything is built around the themes of bathrooms, tiles, and release. Wanderwall is a set of 108 ceramic tiles, of which 12 are exhibited— Each one packed with thoughts, dreams and imagination of a young lad trying to reflect some stuff messed in his head. I drew pieces of my life tile by tile, square by square. When you look at one tile, you get one story. But if you place the first beside the second, the story starts expanding. By the time you reach tile number 100, things would be pretty damn powerful.

Sometimes, when I draw, it feels like I’m floating farther than any astronaut. The feeling of weightless wandering, it’s exactly how my work feels. The next episode will dive deeper into understanding, watering plants inside my head, monkeys and lads. After all, we’re all part of the masterplan.
