The 5th annual BKK Comics Art Festival (BCAF) is back at the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC) this October, once again offering the festival’s unique blend of exhibition and convention activities celebrating the incredible creativity and diversity of comic storytelling. The BCAF is Thailand’s only art-forward celebration of the incredible visuals that power comics, putting at the forefront the artistry of its creators. The expansive comics art exhibition running from 06 through 18 October on the 5th floor hall of the BACC showcases work from both established and aspiring artists, and two weekend conventions (10-11 and 17-18 October) bring together comics creators and enthusiasts from around the world.

This year’s headlining mangaka is AKEJI FUJIMURA, who made his professional debut with As the Gods Will, which gained massive popularity and was adapted into a major live-action feature film directed by Takashi Miike. As The Gods Will was published in Thailand as Game Thewada (เกมเทวดา) by Vibulkij Publishing.

Along with a special curation of Mr. Fujimura’s art, including process sketches and pages from Shin Kamen Rider: Shocker Side, the exhibition features pieces from SIRADASUE, KOONG and BELI, prominent creators from the popular BL (Boys’ Love) genre of comics; CYBER SHEEP STUDIOS, publisher of Kickstarter smash hit series Ronin of Okane; influential Belgian creators, courtesy of longtime festival partner the Embassy of Belgium in Thailand; finalists from The Monsoon Awards, the first indie awards for comics across Asia and its diasporas; and up-and-coming local comics artists.

Special panels, workshops and fun activities for both children and adults are on offer during the weekend conventions, where attendees can meet comics creators and browse through merchandise in the Artist Marketplace. Presentations by BL creators Siradasue and Beli are scheduled for the first weekend of 10-11 October, along with an in-depth look at producing a successful comic project from conception to marketing by the entire creative team of Ronin of Okane. Akeji Fujimura is on hand for his Inside Manga Illustrationmasterclass during the second weekend of 17-18 October. Both weekends also offer art activities for all ages and are cosplay-friendly, with cosplayers KIMMII(10-11 & 18 Oct), MIEWMIEW (10-11 & 18 Oct), DOLLYDEW (17-18 Oct) and JOANNA JOESTAR (17-18 Oct) in attendance. KimMii and Joanna Joestar are also participating as live models for a “Draw a Cosplayer” session on 18 October.

The BKK Comics Art Festival aims to show how comics, as a unique marriage of visuals and narrative, can depict both lived and imagined worlds and are a large part of storytelling DNA across societies worldwide. To bring the 2026 edition of the festival to life, bkk UNZINE continues our partnership with Children of the Forest (COF) Foundation, a school and children’s home in Sangkhlaburi near the Thai-Myanmar border which helps to improve the lives of stateless and migrant children and families. COF’s initiatives on teaching children comics art make them a perfect ongoing partner in promoting comics and cultivating future creators. Work by their young artists will be featured as part of the exhibition and available for auction at the festival, with all proceeds going to COF.
