bkk UNZINE art magazine aims to showcase the talents of artists and to bring creativity and community to audiences around the world.

Abbreviated Issue?

Welcome to the June 2025 issue of bkk UNZINE! A.I. has been a hot-button topic for some time, so perhaps it’s something most artists prefer to leave untouched… or perhaps many think what there is to be said had already been said. Either way, we’re all witnessing how the evolution of A.I. is unfolding, whether we perceive it as a threat or a tool.

A.I. will be front and center as the theme for the second issue of our comics anthology UNZINE Comics. The first issue is close to selling out, and this next A.I. themed issue will be available at the BKK Comics Art Festival #4 this October at the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre. Be sure not to miss it, bkk UNZINE’s largest event of the year!

As always, don’t forget to join us at your favorite art getaway, UNZINE 95, for our regular weekly events: Wednesday Draw, The Saturday Morning Cartoon Club and Lines & Limbs Life Drawing. Check out our event schedule for more!

Accepting submissions now through June 25th.

COMIC CHARACTERS CREATED w/ AI

by IVAN CHEREMISIN

AI comics (where only individual pictures were created with AI)

The world is changing— will these shifts lead to something better, or will they destroy everything? Only time will tell. Amber, an ordinary artist, embarks on a vacation to a tropical island, where she stumbles upon a dreamcatcher by sheer chance. What transformations will this serendipitous discovery bring?

Animator, Designer, Illustrator, Painter, Sculptor, Performance Artist

Ivan has been a professional photographer for 17 years, and lately has been focusing on exhibitions and art. He is also trying to create a comic story using AI.

STARTER PACK TREND (none AI)

by GEMSTONE

The starter trend on Chat GPT started so I drew my own pack for my cats.
In the first row, Mousse and Pepsi have now been adopted into new loving homes.
In the second row are Dumpling, our big baby.; the twins Hikaru and Kaoru, our double trouble; and Kyo, my cat in England.

2D Artist

Gemma Smith likes drawing with pencils for most of her work, but she sometimes use pens and paint as well. Drawing is only a hobby for her.

IMANI

by SKETCHMAN BORIS

pencil on sketchbook paper

am submitting the first page of a 4 page short comic called IMANI that will be part of our next comics anthology for the theme of A.I. The story starts during an interrogation scene where a leader of a group of androids is torturing a human with the goal to find the meaning of the word IMANI which was used by a poet that became the anthem for human revolution that according to agents of artificial intelligence stands in the way of the progress.

Comic Artist

Boris Aravindabalan, aka “Sketchman Boris,” is the founder of bkk UNZINE art magazine. Growing up in India, Boris discovered his love for drawing and, combined with hours and hours of cartoons and movies, he realized that not only did he just love reading and watching stories, but he also wanted to have the same impact on others as the creators whose work he enjoyed had on him.
