CRIMSON MEMORY
by DARIYA BUSHUEVA
graphite pencil & oil pastel on paper
This piece of work is made to explore the themes of fragility and resilience of one's inner child through the contrast of pencil work and the bold red oil pastel. Within the artwork, the red accents - the flower, ribbon, and the shoes - act as fragments of memory that are still vivid with warmth and love even after growing up and potentially "losing that one bright child" someone may have once been; this idea is emphasized by the contrast of red oil pastel and monochrome pencil, as well as lack of background (more negative space). The plush bear in the child's hand hints to a sense of comfort and security; however it clashes with the forward-facing perspective of the subject, inviting the viewer to think about and reconnect with their own lost sense of wonder and emotions from childhood.
Dasha is an aspiring artist based in Bangkok who began their artistic journey two years ago due to taking IGCSE art. Often inspired by Baroque artists like Peter Paul Rubens or abstract artists like Pablo Picasso, their work often explores classical techniques containing specific abstract elements either in their choice of colour palette or overall composition ideas. Specialising in portraiture, they work primarily in oil and graphite, often creating commissioned pieces that aim to capture emotion and precise detail.

DANCEY
by CARLA VISSER
acrylic paint
Creating this Pop Art-style character was a lot of fun. Most of my artwork consists of super-focused, detailed linework of already existing objects or subjects. This painting is a stark contrast. The character is based on a water-filled plastic cup, but it has been transformed into an imaginary anthropomorphic character. Its style is simplistic: I used 5 solid acrylic colours. Linework is mostly used as an outline and to add minor details. I only used value on the purple limbs. The “sound effects” of the jumping/dancing feet are also used sparingly. While creating this artwork, I recalled how I enjoyed creating unique characters as a child. I also remembered using this particular medium and artistic style during my university years. Revisiting old art-making techniques and styles can be surprisingly refreshing and playful.
Illustrator
Carla Visser, a graduate of Stellenbosch University in South Africa, primarily creates detailed line drawings with traditional dip pens, brush pens, glas dip pens and fine liners. She predominantly works in achromatic tones but will occasionally dabble here and there with small splashes of color. She believes that well-exectuted black-and-white drawings can effectively substitute for color, evoke emotions and tell a story.
MELODY WITH FRIENDS
by DIARIES OF MELODY
digital illustrations, Procreate
The story is about Melody playing in her secret garden, where she met her animal friends. This piece is inspired from the artist’s childhood, where she had to play alone. However, her imagination allowed her to enjoy playing alone and have a good day by herself, representing how a kid can be and and how they can think anything, unlike when they’re grown up and have to cope with many things.
Illustrator, Web Designer, Digital Artist, Graphic Designer
Diaries of Melody is an artist who explores her style through art technique and currently enjoys digital illustration and cyanotype art. Her artwork was inspired by stories from her childhood, imaginary friends and natural elements such as gardens from her backyard, animals and insects. The name “Diaries of Melody” came from an original character named Melody which represents the artist herself telling art stories, like writing in a diary… meaning that this is her art journey.
INNER CHILD
by NIRUT CHAMSUWAN
pencil on board
The children are the pilots, but what’s really inside?
Illustrator, Comic Artist
Nirut Chamsuwan specializes in illustration, graphic design and portraiture, nurturing the love for popular entertainment, comic books and sequential storytelling that has informed his artwork since youth. While studying architecture at the Savannah College of Art and Design, he would often joke that his reason for pursuing such a major was to learn how to render backgrounds for comic book panels..
THE CHILDHOOD BLUEPRINT
& DIGITAL PLAYGROUND
by TUS VUTTINUN
digital painting & animation
This cityscape represents a joyful release for me. During my architecture studies, the seriousness of designing for people was immense, requiring intense focus. In contrast, this piece comes from the simple happiness I find in drawing perspectives freely again, filling the space with vibrant color and imaginative forms without constraint. It’s about rediscovering the pure fun in creation.
digital painting
I envision this image as a “Digital Playground,” representing my attempt to reconnect with a childlike state. Recognizing that those moments can't be truly returned to, I created this image to release and channel that essential childlike spirit. Its semi-abstract nature aims to capture the freedom, energy, and nostalgic memories of childhood I sought to connect with.
Animator, Designer, Illustrator, Painter, Sculptor, Performance Artist
Tus Vuttinun's background in architecture primarily shapes his conceptual approach and creative thinking. This perspective, combined with a childhood passion for cartooning, allows him to explore visual narratives through a unique blend of analytical thought and expressive drawing.
